WEDDINGS
Want to add that extra wow factor to your special day?
Alex Cairns Music has it covered! From soft background music to create that beautiful ambience as your guests are mingling to kicking the reception party off with a bang and everything in between.
The sax is such a diverse instrument that can be used for any occasion and suits any style- that’s why the saxophone is so incredibly trendy right now for wedding entertainment!
When do you play?
I can cater my sets to your needs! Want to have me play light background sax whilst guests mingle at your reception drinks? No problem. Want to walk down the aisle to your favourite song played live on your choice of 3 instruments? No problem. You and your partner’s special song for your first dance? No problem. Would like me to play alongside your booked DJ to get the party started with an Ibiza style saxophone set? No problem! The options really are endless and completely bespoke to your day!
Why choose me?
I pride myself on high quality and approachability. Keeping the line of communication open between us right up until the day is something I think is very important and I endeavour to always be flexible to accommodate to your needs.
I have worked hard and continue to work to achieve a highly regarded reputation- with great feedback and testimonials from previous clients to attune to this. I am also versatile- with the ability to adapt my music style to suit any part of your day, an extensive repertoire, and a choice of 3 instruments (saxophone, guitar, piano) with the option to upgrade to a duo act with female vocals as well!
What equipment do we need to provide?
None at all other than ensuring there is power supply where I will be playing. I have all the high quality PA speakers/desk/lighting required to make sure that the product you receive is of the highest quality.
What do the costs cover?
My quotes cover the entire package- no more hidden travel/setup/ equipment hire costs!
I can’t choose what type of music to have for my special day?
This is when being a multi instrumentalist comes in really handy! I play saxophone, guitar, and piano to a high standard (performing onboard several prestigious cruise lines and venues around the world with all three of my instruments) and I do offer package deals so you can have it all if you so wish! For example; Background music at the ceremony could be played on the piano, followed by a semi-upbeat set on acoustic guitar for your wedding reception drinks, then top it all off with an upbeat evening saxophone set alongside a DJ (or as a solo act to tracks I provide) to get the party started! Additionally, if you had a singer in mind for your big day, this can also be included in my package deals for any part of your day- acoustic day time vocals or upbeat party for the evening. There are so many different variations of what your live music schedule could look like- all catered to you- and there are big savings to be had by booking it all through my packages.
What songs do you play?
I do have a wide array of pre-existing songs in my repertoire, although I am happy to learn a song or two if it’s not already on my list. If you get in touch, I can send an example of the songs I will play for your set.
An example of some songs I play for certain types of sets are as follows-
Ceremonial Entrance:

Thousand Years
Can’t help falling in love with you

What do you charge?
There is no set cost that I charge as every wedding is different. Varying costs depend on the date (Saturdays in the peak wedding season are very limited. I haven’t yet figured out a way of cloning myself, therefore these dates will be at a higher rate as opposed to weddings in the off-peak season), travel costs, the amount of wait time between sets, timings etc. If you would like a quote then send me some information about your day and what you are after!
Do you have any other options?
Yes. In addition to working as a solo act, you can also book me to play alongside your DJ. I am also part of a high end duo- Alexa Shuffle- which consists of myself on saxophone, guitar, and/or piano and professional female vocals. We cover anything from background music to your evening entertainment and offer a large array of genres and eras of music. We have worked onboard cruise lines such as Princess, P&O, and Carnival as a duo act and are highly experienced across a wide variety of events and audiences. This option is great if you don’t have the budget for a full band but are looking for something similar with a fuller sound and vocals!
How do I book you?
If you get in contact with me regarding the date and details, I will first of all check my availability for that date. From there, I will send out an invoice (I require a 25% deposit) to book your date! Wedding season is always busy for me (especially as saxophonist) so I am usually booking weddings for the following year or two in advance. I still have a handful of dates available for the remaining year but if you are wanting a sax don’t hesitate to get in touch!
Which areas do you cover?
I am based in Plymouth so I mainly cover weddings in Devon, Cornwall and Somerset. I’m happy to travel all across the UK or abroad for weddings however this of course will incur a higher travel fee.
How long do you play for?
Sets are usually 45 minutes in length. The standard for any musician is usually 2 x 45 minute sets with a 15-30 minute break between. However, this is just a guide and of course all weddings are different depending on timings of your day and what your live music requirements are exactly. This of course can extended or reduced with additional sets added if needed.
